Chris teaches all band instruments. Chris Valerio has been teaching for over 40 years both privately and in the public school system. Chris studied trumpet at Western Connecticut State University and the Manhattan School of Music. He has studied with many trumpet greats, including Robert Nagel, Alan Ean, Raymond Crisara, Mel Broiles and Vincent Penzerella. He has performed with the Ridgefield, Greenwich Philarmonia, Stamford Symphony, Waterbury Symphony, New Britain Symphony and others.

EDUCATION, PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE

UNDERGRADUATE & GRADUATE EDUCATION:

 WESTERN CT ST UNIVERSITY *WCSU): Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance, Teacher Certification- Performed in several University Ensembles (Principal Trumpet), member of official University Brass Quintet, and WCSU Faculty Brass Quintet. Performed in Stravinsky’s Soldier’s Tale, piccolo trumpet in Bach’s Magnificat, and many more.

 Attended Manhattan School of Musi; Performed in the school’s orchestra and brass quintet.

 Presently teaches in the Colebrook Consolidated elementary band program. Middle school and elementary school bands received several superior ratings in festivals/competitions. As a result of a superior rating at a National Music Festival, one of my middle school bands was invited to perform at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC.

 TRUMPET STUDIES: Studied with Robert Nagel, Alan Dean, Raymond Crisara - studio and session player in NYC, Mel Broiles - Principal trumpet-Metropolitan Opera, Vincent Penzerella - New York Philharmonic and the New York Brass Quintet.

SCHOLARSHIPS RECEIVED: Yale Summer School of Music in Norfolk, Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, Graduate Assistant - Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE: Performed with several brass quintets; Performed as soloist in several churches; Principal Trumpet - Ridgefield Symphony - 10 years; performed with the Greenwich Philharmonia, Stamford Symphony, Waterbury Symphony, New Britain Symphony and others.
