Time to get to the nitty gritty; cheap ways to improve your tone and I mean cheap!

Picks. Yes, picks! Picks have a PROFOUND effect on your tone by not only the materials they are made of but also their shapes, how they sit in your grip to the way they interact with the strings. 

 Some picks actually will allow a little 

more “skin” in the game; literally more of you is touching the string with certain pick shapes. 

How the materials sound with YOUR style and the shape of the pick is also something to listen for.

The feel of a pick in relation to how you strike the strings is very important as this will effect the initial attack and fundamental tone generated.

Distance to the strings from initial contact is important also. Notice how the greats look like they are barely moving yet their instruments are singing! It’s the economy of motion that allows those tones to be so consistent and in “control”.

If you play finger style many of the same attributes will apply to technique and even shape of fingers, thumbs and nails!

Don’t just spend, SEEK!!!
